The short version: we don't ask you to sign up, we don't show ads, we don't use analytics or advertising cookies, and we don't sell or share your data. Here is exactly what happens when you use Arcana Glow.
Your birth details
When you calculate a birth chart, your date of birth, time of birth and the coordinates of the place you chose are sent to our server. The server calculates the chart and sends it back. These details are not saved, not attached to any profile and not used for anything else.
Searching for a place
As you type your birthplace, the letters you've typed are sent to our server to look up matching towns. The search runs on our own copy of the GeoNames place list, so your search is not passed to any third-party map service.
Technical logs
Like most websites, our server keeps short technical logs: the IP address a request came from, the browser, the page requested and the time. Searches for a place can appear in these logs. We use them only to keep the site secure and to fix errors. Web server logs are deleted after 14 days, and application logs are overwritten automatically, usually within a few days.
What's stored on your device
Arcana Glow does not set cookies. It saves three small things in your browser's local storage, which never leave your device:
- whether you chose the light or the dark theme;
- a random number used to pick your personal card of the day, so it stays the same until midnight;
- which card you revealed today, so it's still face up when you come back.
You can delete them at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Services we use
- Cloudflare delivers the site and protects it from attacks. It processes your IP address to do that and may set a strictly necessary security cookie if it suspects automated traffic.
- Hetzner Online hosts our server in Helsinki, Finland, in the European Union.
Fonts and images are served from our own server. There are no ads, social media widgets or tracking scripts on the site.
Why we're allowed to process data
If you're in the European Union or the United Kingdom, we calculate your chart because you asked us to: it is the service you requested. We keep technical logs because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the site safe and working.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Because we don't store birth details or accounts, in most cases there is nothing on our side to return or delete beyond short-lived logs. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. If you live in California, note that we do not sell or share personal information.
Children
Arcana Glow is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
