About Arcana Glow
Arcana Glow is a tarot and astrology site for hard days and ordinary ones. It offers a daily tarot card, the meanings of the 78 tarot cards and a birth chart calculator, all written to calm you rather than scare you.
Who Selena is
Selena is the voice of Arcana Glow. She is a character, not a real person and not a psychic. We write every reading in her voice so that the whole site sounds the same: warm, honest, practical and on your side.
Selena never claims to know your future. She describes what a card or a chart traditionally means and offers a gentle way to think about your situation. The decision is always yours.
How we read the cards
We treat tarot as a mirror, not a verdict. A card can point to something you already sense, give it a name and suggest one small next step. That is why we don't predict illness, accidents or death, we don't tell anyone that a relationship is doomed, and we never sell "protection" from bad luck.
Heavy cards stay heavy. Death, The Tower and the Ten of Swords are not painted as pleasant. They are read the way tarot readers have long read them: as endings, shocks and turning points that make room for what comes next.
Where the card meanings come from
The cards on this site are the Rider-Waite-Smith deck, first published in 1909. The images were drawn by Pamela Colman Smith under the direction of the occultist Arthur Edward Waite, who explained them in his 1910 book The Pictorial Key to the Tarot. Smith's original art is now in the public domain.
Our meanings follow that tradition and the correspondences of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, which link each card to an element and to a planet or zodiac sign. They also reflect the way the cards are commonly read today. Every reading is written in advance. Nothing on the site is generated on the spot, and the same card always means the same thing.
How birth charts are calculated
Planet positions come from the DE421 ephemeris of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, computed with the open-source Skyfield library for the exact latitude and longitude of your birthplace. We use the tropical zodiac and the Placidus house system. Time zones and daylight saving history come from the IANA time zone database, so a birth in 1985 is calculated with the clock that was really in use that day.
Place names and coordinates come from GeoNames, licensed under CC BY 4.0.
What Arcana Glow is not
Tarot and astrology are tools for reflection. They are not scientifically proven to predict events, and nothing here is medical, legal, financial or psychological advice. Please don't make a decision about your health, money or safety based on a card.
If you are going through something heavy, you deserve real support. Reach out to someone you trust or to a local crisis line. In the US you can call or text 988, and in the UK and Ireland Samaritans are available on 116 123.
No sign-up, no ads
You don't need an account to use Arcana Glow, and there are no ads. Your birth details are used once to calculate your chart and are not stored. The details are in our privacy policy.
